Well friends, we finally made it! As our plane touched down in Venice, we looked at each other almost in disbelief. In less than a year, we have tied the knot, moved to Phoenix, and now relocated again to Italy. It's ridiculous how good God has been to us, and we are psyched to start another new adventure here in the old country!
So far, we have temporarily settled into a quaint hotel in the town of Aviano, about 200 yards outside of base. We have a 3rd floor efficiency apartment with a kitchen, and directly across the courtyard is a yummy gelato shop (good thing we're on the third floor!!). Until we find a permanent dwelling, the Hotel Desiree will be our home. This next week will include house hunting, finding a car, getting cell phones, and checking in/settling in on base. We have pretty much shaken jet-lag, so we're hoping for a productive week!!
We are excited to get settled in and get our furniture (assuming it's not at the bottom of the atlantic!) so that we can have visitors. Everyday brings new experiences and we are slowly improving our Italian and getting our bearings in the region. Thank you so much for all of your prayers and encouragement, and we hope to see everyone's faces here in Italia sometime in the next 3 years!! In the meantime, we will try and be diligent with posting pics and stories here on our blog. Please email us, as well, so we know how everyone back at home is doing. We love you all!!
